Unlike traditional grooming methods, our technique uses no active restraint whatsoever. Cats are never held down, scruffed, or forced into compliance. Instead, the method relies on cat-led positioning, where each feline is guided into comfortable, natural postures that gently and safely limit mobility without distress.

SEDATION
Across much of the UK, cat grooming services are often only provided under sedation or general anaesthetic. In many veterinary settings, this is the default option because when cats are handled incorrectly, they can quickly become highly aggressive and dangerous to manage. Without advanced feline-specific handling skills, sedation is seen as the only safe way to proceed.

While sometimes unavoidable for certain medical cases, anaesthetic and sedation should not be the standard for routine grooming. They place unnecessary strain on a cat’s vital organs, particularly the heart, liver, and kidneys, and carry heightened risks for senior or medically fragile cats. Recovery can also be stressful, leaving many cats lethargic or disoriented after a procedure that should never have required drugs in the first place.

When cats are groomed under sedation or anaesthetic, they are unconscious throughout the entire process. This means they are unable to process, adapt, or learn from the experience. Each time grooming is needed again, they wake up in the same fearful state, having gained no familiarity or tolerance for the procedure.
